The Alternate Minister of Tourism Elena Kountoura stated that there will no changes in the VAT the relate to tourism before October, amid discussions of a VAT reform.

Mrs. Kountoura told Mega Channel that “nothing will change until October” and argued that the negotiations for the VAT reform are ongoing and as such, there are no final decisions.

Furthermore she stressed that without financial studies and justification, the government does not intend to implement any changes that may harm the economy, but added that Greece must become more competitive.

Finally, the Alternate Tourism Minister underlined that the Greek islands must enjoy special privileges, as is the case in the rest of Europe.
