SYRIZA MEP Dimitris Papadimoulis argued that an agreement between Greece and its creditors was “the only way, since an impasse is too expensive and painful for everyone” in a Monday-morning interview for ANT1.

Mr. Papadimoulis explained that “even a moderately satisfactory agreement is better than an impasse both for the creditors and for Greece”, adding that “[Prime Minister] Tsipras has the Greek people’s support to boldly and honestly go forward”.

When asked about rumors of a referendum, Mr. Papadimoulis commented that “[it] will not be necessary” and stressed that Greece “needs solutions, not elections and the mandate towards Tsipras is to govern, so that the country can escape the situation which the Samaras-Venizelos government placed it in”.
