An emergency meeting was held at Maximos Mansion, where the Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and the government’s economic staff debated the legislative initiatives which will soon be announced that will aim to address the humanitarian crisis, outstanding debts and residence auctions.
It has also been reported that the extension of the loan agreement and covering the short-term financing needs, especially for March, were discussed in the meeting.
Rumors which have not been refuted also suggest that the government is not planning on bringing the loan agreement in Parliament, as the Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis’ signature, which is on it, is enough for the agreement to come into effect.
On Thursday’s SYRIZA political secretariat meeting, the PM asked for his cabinet to expedite the necessary reforms to tackle tax evasion and corruption, as well as carry out changes in public administration and gradually remove the bailout and its representatives from the state mechanism.
A ministerial council will be held at 19:30 on Friday under Prime Minister.
