“Yanis Varoufakis is a famous economist,” Wolfgang Schäuble told a journalist of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung when asked about the Greek Finance Minister.
“He is a famous economist who has dealt extensively with issues of the so called eurocrisis and I do not care if he is wearing his shirt over or under his pants, or whether he is wearing a tie or not“, the German Finance Minister said, stressing that in their first meeting in Berlin he understood that Yanis Varoufakis is a civilized man.
Mr. Schäuble said that he respects all those politicians who won the confidence of their people after an electoral process.
It should be noted that a few days ago Mr. Varoufakis said about Mr. Schäuble that he is probably the only European politician of intellectual substance, a committed European and a rooted federalist.
