There are traces of wiretapping and eavesdropping in specific areas in Athens, where the offices of political parties are based, according to a survey conducted by Ta Nea with a special device for two weeks.

According to the newspaper report, many of the “suspicious events” occurred on Sygrou Avenue, near the political offices of New Democracy, and on Koumoundourou Square, nearby the HQ of SYRIZA, as well as in Exarchia, near PASOK’s central offices.

The most suspicious activities however were documented in the triangle between the Athens Tower, the American Embassy and Papadiamantopoulou Street.

SYRIZA: Government must respond to wiretap allegations

After the publication of the article in Ta Nea, SYRIZA issued a statement demanding that the government must respond to the serious matter and provide the necessary explanations. SYRIZA’s stresses that the wiretapping of mobile phones near political offices, including New Democracy and SYRIZA, generates legitimate questions and concerns.
