The former Minister of Education Marietta Giannakou has condemned the “mutual demonization” of the two main contenders in the upcoming general elections, New Democracy and SYRIZA.
In her appearance on the Sto Kokkino radio station, she argued that the election campaign conflict was “sad and outdated”, while dismissing claims that SYRIZA will bring a catastrophe. Mrs. Giannakou also noted though that securing a debt write off was just as untrue.
Mrs. Giannakou stated that “thank God, aside from New Democracy, neither SYRIZA wants to leave the euro” and stressed that she will not transfer any of her savings to foreign banks.
Regarding SYRIZA, the former Minister explained that she troubled by the “mess of comments” made by certain party members, recognizing that it is a “type of confederation comprised of various elements”, but stressing that “the people must feel secure”.
