The president of PASOK Evangelos Venizelos addressed his party’s electoral committee and declared that his party will be the guarantor of national strategy and stability, as the third party in a national unity coalition government. Mr. Venizelos stressed that his party must ensure political and financial stability, while addressing the national debt and preparing for the transition to the “post-bailout and crisis period”.
“I do not believe in the strategy of dear, I believe in the strategy of truth and honest” he added, claiming that the political uncertainty may jeopardize the sacrifices of the Greek people. The PASOK leader lashed out against his critics and denounced foreign interventions in Greek affairs.
Mr. Venizelos was rather critical of the main opposition SYRIZA and accused the recently-formed River party of being “the new DIMAR”. He explained that the “we will no fall victim to the inconsistency and ambiguity”. The PASOK leader spoke of an “inconceivable internal outstanding problem” in reference to the intention of former party leader and PM Giorgos Papandreou to form a new party.
