The government Vice President Evangelos Venizelos met with Prime Minister Antonis Samaras for an hour at 14:30, only a few hours before the critical first vote of the Presidential elections.

The coalition government still has hopes of managing to elect a new President of the Republic in the third vote requiring 180s votes. Mr. Venizelos declined to make any comments on his way out of the Prime Minister’s office.

Mr. Venizelos has insisted on seeking out a political consensus, a position which he is expected to repeat at the scheduled meeting of PASOK’s parliamentary group at 4pm on Wednesday.
