Only a few hours remain before the first critical vote for a new President, which is scheduled to begin at 7pm on Wednesday, with the main opposition party SYRIZA confident that the government will fail, paving the way for early elections in January 2015.

With a number of MPs seemingly undecided and as such under a lot of pressure, SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras has adopted a more aggressive and polarizing stance in recent days, accusing the PM of possibly staging a bank run and proclaiming that everyone will dance to SYRIZA’s tune, causing some concern amongst undecided voters.

SYRIZA officers appear confident that the government will not be able to garner the 180 votes that are necessary in the third and final vote, arguing that there are about 126-127 MPs who are committed to voting against Presidential candidate Stavros Dimas.

Despite this though, there are some concerns over the stance of DIMAR, after party president Fotis Kouvelis commented on Vima 99.5 FM that he would not consider any of his party MPs as apostates or sellouts if they chose to support Mr. Dimas candidacy. Speculation suggests that Mr. Kouvelis wants to pressure SYRIZA in order to negotiate the terms of a post-election alliance.
