The leader of SYRIZA Alexis Tsipras has responded to the coalition government’s announcement of Presidential elections and appeared confident that general elections would soon follow. Mr. Tsipras made the comments at a SYRIZA-organized event about tourism.

According to the main opposition leader, the coalition government’s decision is essentially an admission of the political deadlock which the government has reached.

He argued that this is a positive development, as the New Year will give SYRIZA a strong popular mandate in order to carry out negotiations.
