The Department of Ecology, Environment and Urban Planning of the main opposition party has issued a highly critical statement regarding the deal between TAIPED and Lamda Development for the site of the former airport at Elliniko.
In their statement, SYRIZA accuse the privatization fund of being a “hotbed” of intransparency, irregularity and subversion of the public interest and claims that the controversial deal for the Elliniko development is illegal.
SYRIZA notes that the State’s technical advisor has estimated that the huge plot of land has been ceded to the investment group at a price that is 222% less than its current market value.
Furthermore, the opposition party claims that there have been no provisions for the environmental and urban planning effects of the deal, while warning that taxpayers will pay the cost.
The statement concludes by nothing that the deal is illegal and will soon collapse, along with the government which has supported it.
