The rumors regarding the possible expulsion of Greece from the next Eurovision competition in spring have been confirmed, as To Vima contacted and received confirmation from EBU.

A report in Ta Nea initiatlly suggested that Greece may be expelled from the next Eurovision contest in spring, as the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) appears to have issues with NERIT.EBU’s Communications Coordinator for the Eurovision Family of Events Jarmo Siim, was contacted by Ta Nea over the matter and commented that he was unaware of such rumors.

According to the rumors, EBU objects to NERIT’s application, in response to the recent high-profile resignations from the newly-established public broadcaster in Greece. To Vima was told by the EBU that only EBU members may participate in the song competition and since NERIT is not an EBU member, Greece will not be participating in the next Eurovision.

With the deadline for participation in the next Eurovision in Austria expiring today, Monday the 15th of September, it seems highly unlikely that Greece will end up participating in the spring 2015 competition.
