The police in Thessaloniki arrested a 47-year-old woman for the theft of 220,000 euros, which her 60-year-old husband had stashed in the attic of their apartment and for staging a robbery.
As it turns out, the 47-year-old woman took the money from the attic on the 25th of May, when her 60-year-old husband was away from the apartment. Afterwards she made it appear as if the apartment had been ransacked. Upon his return, the 60-year-old man reported the “break-in” and filed a complaint with the police.
During the investigation the police found that the 47-year-old was in possession of large sum of money and discovered 1,000 US dollars stashed in a crypt at her sister’s house. After further questioning, the 47-year-old confessed to the scam and has been charged with theft.
