Government partners New Democracy and PASOK have come to blows in a “war of words” in relation to the upcoming constitutional review and rumor that PM Antonis Samaras and Government VP Evangelos Venizelos have come to an agreement.

PASOK’s press office issued a statement clarifying that no discussion regarding the constitutional review has taken place between the two parties. Further on in the statement, PASOK argues that such critical matters cannot be discussed in terms of fleeting electioneering purposes.

New Democracy’s press representative Anna Michel Asimakopoulou commented that New Democracy will not seek out anyone’s approval in order to discuss its initiatives and demanded that PASOK respect New Democracy’s inalienable democratic right to do so.

PASOK responded to Mrs. Asimakopoulou’s claims, arguing that there had been no prior agreement between the two party leaders, despite ND’s claims and argued that such matters require the broadest possible consensus.
