The Greek statistics authority ELSTAT has published its latest provisional divs for June on building activity in Greece and found a 22.1% decrease in the number of building permits, a 15.3% decrease in surface and a 22.7% decrease in volume, compared with the corresponding month of 2015.

According to ELSTAT’s divs the building permits for the Private Building Activity issued in Greece in June 2016 amounted to 1,072. This div corresponds to 213.4 thousand m2 of surface and 891.9 thousand m3 of volume. In comparison to June 2015, this amounts to a 21.3% decrease in the number of building permits, an 18.0% decrease in surface and a 26.1% decrease in volume.

The building permits for the Public Building Activity issued in Greece in June 2016 amouted to 9. This div corresponds to 9.5 thousand m2 of surface and 48.3 thousand m3 of volume. Public Building Activity accounted for 5.1% of the total building volume in June 2016.

In the twelve-month period between July 2015 until June 2016, Total Building Activity (private-public) in Greece, calculated on the basis of the number of issued building permits, amounted to 12,077. This div corresponds to 2,488.3 thousand m2 of surface and 13,570.4 thousand m3 of volume. In comparison with the corresponding period from July 2014 until June 2015, there is a 13.0% decrease in the number of building permits, a 7.6% decrease in surface and a 16.6% increase in volume.
