According to the latest official estimate released by Greek authorities, there are 53,731 migrants and refugees in the country at present.

In greater detail, a total of 29,277 are in temporary accommodation in the north of Greece, 13,981 in Attica, 8,212 on the islands in the Aegean, 1,923 in mainland Greece and 338 in the south of Greece. It was also announced that there were 55 new arrivals in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Alimos Andreas Kondylis warned that the “third world conditions” at the temporary camp that has been set up at the former airport at Elliniko are appalling and that local authorities cannot substitute the state, which he claimed was responsible.
