The Minister of Labor Giorgos Katrougalos estimated that the upper middle classes are likely to be affected the most from the controversial pension system reform.
Mr. Katrougalos told the Enikos news website that “my political sense is that the upper middle classes, such as people like me who made over 60,000 euros, will have an issue. That is because we are infringing upon their interests”.
Later on in his interview he noted that he does not understand why the farmers, who have set up road blocks across the country’s highways, insist on the withdrawal of the tax bill, when no such tax bill exists at the moment.
Additionally, he commented that the pension system reform will “not be a problem” for farmers, since their insurance category means that most of them will only be burdened with a charge less than 50 cents a day in 2017.
