The Cypriot capital of Nicosia is set to host the next trilateral summit meeting between Greece, Cyprus and Israel on the 28th of January. The aim of this meeting, according to Cypriot newspaper Fileleftheros, will be to push forward with the implementation of talks, particularly in energy.

Prior to the meeting in Nicosia though, bilateral meeting will take place –Greek PM Alexis Tsipras will meet Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu a day before. The meeting in Cyprus will also be take place in light of the recent rapprochement between Israel and Turkey, however it does not appear that this affect the talks.

Meanwhile, Greece and Cyprus also want to further develop their cooperation with Egypt – as evident by the recent trilateral meeting in Athens. Considerations are made for the possible inclusion of Jordan in the cooperation between the two, while a number of EU member states have also demonstrated an interest, given the role Athens and Nicosia can play as a bridge with countries in the East Mediterranean.
