The Prime Minister of Greece Alexis Tsipras met with Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel on Friday morning, ahead of the formal start to the EU summit held in Brussels. A meeting with French President Francois Holland is also expected to take place later on in the day.

According to reports, the two leaders mainly discussed the refugee crisis, the proress in developing hotspots and the new European border and coast guard agency that is being debated. Beyond the refugee crisis though, the three European leaders are believed to discuss matters related to the progress in the implementation of the Greek bailout program and the economy.

Earlier on Thursday, PM Tsipras commented that the key role of Turkey in relation to the refugee crisis has been recognized and revealed that the final decisions on the new European border and coast guard agency will be taken by June.
