The Greek national basketball team finished at the top of Group C undefeated, after struggling to overcome resistance of the Netherlands 68-65 on Thursday evening. The next game for Fotis Katsikaris’ team is against Belgium on the 15th of September.
With the Greek team having already secured its place in the knockout round, the Netherlands quickly took a minor lead in the game, in hope of finishing third in the group to progress to the next round.
Greece was stellar in defense, but face problems in the scoring department and as such the Dutch team managed to stay close to the score. Despite this though, the Greek coach managed to rotate his players and give Vasilis Spanoulis a rest, ahead of the next difficult games.
The standout players for Greece were Giannis Antetokounmpo with a double-double (11 points and 11 rebounds) and Yannis Bourousis (9 points), who score a crucial three-pointer near the end of the game, securing the Greek victory.
