The Greek statistics authority ELSTAT has published its latest seasonally adjusted divs on the rate of unemployment, which came to 25.2% in June 2015, up from 25% in May 2015. In June 2014 the unemployment rate was 26.6%

According to ELSTAT, the number of employed amounted to 3,584,973 persons, the unemployed amounted to 1,204,844 while the number of inactive came to 3,298,166 in June 2015.

As such, the ranks of the employed grew by 40,395 persons compared to June 2014 (+1.1%) and dropped by 42,125 persons compared to May 2015 (– 1.2%). The unemployed decreased by 81,474 persons (– 6.3%) since June 2014 and by 2,609 persons (– 0.2%) compared to May 2015.

Finally, the number of inactive persons – namely those who neither worked nor looked for a job – decreased by 7.806 persons (– 0.2%) compared to June 2014 and increased by 41,158 persons (+1.3%) compared to May 2015.
