The Greek national basketball team has secured its participation in the knock out round of the 2015 EuroBasket after defeating the national team of Georgia 79-68 in Group C.

After a slow start in the first quarter Greece quickly demonstrated that it was greater team and quickly managed to build a ten-point difference. The difference grew to 28 points by the end of the half, with the Greek team proving its offensive and defensive qualities.

The Georgian team managed a mini-comeback in the third, with Tornike Shengelia, Giorgi Shermadini and Viktor Sanikidze did their best to keep the Greek team at bay, but they were unable to keep up for long.

In the final quarter of the game the Greek demonstrated just why it is considered one of the stronger teams in the competition. Greece ultimately defeated Georgia 68-79, with Nikos Calathes scoring 19 points and handing out 8 assists, while Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 12 points.

Greece’s next matches in Group C are against Slovenia at 4pm (Greek time) on Wednesday and against the Netherlands at 10pm on Thursday.
