The Greek statistics authority ELSTAT has published its latest divs on the labor force, according to which the rate of unemployment retreated to 25% in May 2015, from 25.6% in April 2015.
In total, ELSTAT’s divs show that in May there were 3,604,102 employed, 1,200,981 unemployed and 3,286.476 inactive (ie, not actively seeking employment) people.
The number of employed increased by 81,832 persons (+2.3%) compared to May 2014 and by 65,387 (+1.8%) persons compared to April 2015. Unemployed decreased by 98,820 persons (-7.6%) compared to May 2014 and by 15,278 (-1.3%) compared to April 2015 (a 1.3%).
Finally, the number of inactive persons decreased by 32,879 persons (-1.0%) compared to May 2014 and by 53,701 persons (-1.6%) compared to April 2015.
