SYRIZA MEP Dimitris Papadimoulis argued that the government’s goal to set aside the talk of ‘Grexit’ by Sunday, once and for all, while maintaining that it would be a mistake to believe that everything is over.

Mr. Papadimoulis told Mega Channel that the government must avoid exacerbating the situation and stressed that the German Minister of Finances Wolfgang Schäuble has not abandoned his thoughts regarding a Grexit. He also noted that the reform proposal must first be scrutinized by technical teams of the institutions, before going through the Eurogroup and Summit.

The MEP stated that it was positive that the proposal was prepared in consultation with the creditors, European Commissioner Pierre Moscovici and technical assistance of the French government. However, he was quick to add that another Greek proposal had been welcomed as a basis of discussion, but “a team around Schäuble deconstructed it and brought an ultimatum”.
