The German Chancellor Angela Merkel commented on the Wednesday-evening meeting she had with French President Francois Hollande and Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras in Brussels, on the sidelines of the EU-CELAC summit.

Mrs. Merkel told journalists that every day counted for Greece and expressed her hope for a positive outcome. She noted that Greece will focus on closing any unresolved issued and revealed that there was a meaningful change of opinions.

According to the German Chancellor, the Greek government is demonstrating a willingness to work closely with the institutions towards coming to an agreement and asserted that there was a possibility of an agreement at the Eurogroup of 18 June.

Such an agreement, she added, would include a nine-month extension of the existing program along with funding, in exchange for new measures.
