The Greek statistics authority ELSTAT has published its provisional divs on fiscal data for the years 2011-2014, according to which the Greek primary surplus for 2014 came to 0.4% GDP, while the general government’s deficit was found to be 3.5% GDP, approximately 6.4 billion euros.

According to ELSTAT’s divs the fiscal consolidation over the past four years has been considerable, as the general government balance deficit dropped from 10.2% GDP in 2011 to 3.5% last year. This was in spite of the unprecedented recession that caused the Gross Domestic Product to shrink to 179 billion euros.
