The Greek statistics authority ELSTAT has published its latest divs on the country’s labor force, according to which the rate of unemployment retreated to 25.7% in January 2015, from 25.9% in December 2014.

In January ELSTAT documented 3,534,594 were employed, while 1,220,828 were unemployed and a further 3,350,597 were economically inactive – persons that neither worked neither looked for a job.

The number of employed increased by 36,781 persons compared with January 2014 (a 1.1% rate of increase) and by 2,306 persons compared with December 2014 (a 0.1% rate of increase).

Unemployed decreased by 87,228 persons (a 6.7% rate of decrease) compared with January 2014 and by 13,435 persons compared with December 2014 (a 1.1% rate of decrease).

Inactive persons decreased by 2,824 persons (a 0.1% rate of decrease) compared with January 2014 and increased by 6,593 persons compared with December 2014 (a 0.2% rate of increase).
