The Bank of Greece announced that the significant drop in public revenue in January has generated a 217 million euro deficit in the State treasury.

Specifically, the Bank of Greece noted the central government had a 217 million euro deficit in January 2015, compared to a 603-million-euro surplus in January 2015.

The regular budget revenue amounted to 3,133 million euros from 4,467 million euros the year before. This shortfall has been attributed to the reduced revenue and lack of European funding.

Additionally, it was announced that the regular budget expenses came to 3,200 million euros, from 3,609 million euros in January 2014.
