The Minister of Productive Reconstruction, Environment and Energy Panagiotis Lafazanis will travel to Azerbaijan on Wednesday, where he is scheduled to meet with state officials to discuss the privatization of DESFA and the TAP pipeline. Mr. Lafazanis will later travel to Beijing.

Mr. Lafazanis will specifically meet with the Advisory Council for the Southern Gas Corridor, which will be hosted by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. The Energy Ministers of countries included in the Southern Corridor will also be present at the meeting, including the VP of the European Commission Maros Sefcovic.

A few days ago Mr. Lafazanis met with the Azerbaijani ambassador in Athens Rahman Mustafayev and SOCAR representative Anar Mammadov. On Tuesday Mr. Lafazanis noted in Parliament that “the privatization of DESFA has carried on enough” and explained that the outcome would be determined after the European Commission rules on the sale.

Mr. Lafazanis will likely travel to the Chinese capital next week, where he will meet with Chinese officials to discuss investments and the export of Greek goods. On Friday Mr. Lafazanis and the Alternate Minister of Agricultural Development and Food Evangelos Apostolou will meet with sugar beet growers and employees at the Hellenic Sugar Industry (EBZ), to discuss the company’s future.
