The Appeal Council decided to indict 70 people in the Golden Dawn trial, who will face charges of joining and coordinating a criminal organization, along with a slew of homicides and violent crimes against migrants and Greek citizens, as well as weapons charges.

Amongst those charged are all of the neo-Nazi party’s leadership and MPs, as well as one minor, who is charged for participating in a brutal attack against Egyptian fishermen in Perama.

The investigation into the neo-Nazi party’s criminal actions was launched after a number of murders, with that of rapper and activist Pavlos Fyssas by Golden Dawn member and supporter Giorgos Roupakias being the most widely reported. The is trial likely to start on the 20th of April.

The decision to indict the 70 suspects was not unanimous, as one judge noted that according to the Palermo Convention the criminal organization charge requires that the suspect gained financial benefits from their actions.
