The German Chancellor Angela Merkel congratulated Alexis Tsipras for winning the 2015 general elections, while noting that he is assuming power during a difficult period.
Mrs. Merkel expressed her hope that cooperation with the new Greek Prime Minister will further develop the strong ties between the two countries and wishing him good luck.
