The president of the Movement of Democrats Socialists Giorgos Papandreou told journalists that is confident that his party will enter parliament, after the publication of the first exit polls which show his party struggling to make the 3% threshold.

Mr. Papandreou noted that “the people’s decision must be respected, domestically and abroad” and stressed the importance of forming a government alliance within progressive framework. The former Prime Minister added that “no party can make it on its own, even if it has a [parliamentary majority]” and that “we need our own Greek plan, a plan that will belong to the Greek people”.

Furthermore, he stated that “our movement managed a major, merely by its presence in the elections” and that “we are here, as we decided”.
