A thirty-year-old football player who played for an amateur football club in Evia died on Thursday after being struck by lightening, according to the Eviaportal.gr newswebsite.
The report notes that the young man, who worked as a farmer, was practicing in the Kirinthos stadium in north Evia during rainfall, when he was struck by lightening.
The incident occurred at about 7pm on Thursday and his death appears to have been instantaneous. No other players were injured
