The Coast Guard has reported that it managed to save 12 migrants who were on board a ship containing up to 38 passengers and recovered the bodies of six.

The ship, which appears to have come from Turkish shores, sank on Friday about 10 nautical miles from Karlovasi on Samos. Two bodies were recovered on Saturday, one small boy and a man, who is believed to have been a Turkish trafficker.

Of the twelve rescued migrants, six have been transferred to Chios, while the others have bee taken to port authority of Samos.
