Forest fires have broken out in two areas in Evia – one in Soutsini near Kymi, while the other is in Thymio near Karystos.
About 50 firefighters with four aircraft and a helicopter have been deployed to tackle the fire near Kymi, while 34 firefighters with 2 aircraft and a helicopter are tackling the fire near Karystsos.
Lightening causes fire in Halkidiki
Meanwhile fires reportedly broke out in Kassandra, Halkidiki on Monday evening due to lightening. The Fire Brigade reported that it committed 35 firefighters to tackle nine fires in forested areas, most of which are under control.
