Greek superstar Vasilis Spanoulis will remain in Piraeus for the next couple years as he signed a new contract with champions Olympiacos on Sunday evening.
On his way out of the meeting with team owners Giorgos and Panagiotis Angelopoulos, Spanoulis told journalists that “there wasn’t much to talk about” that it was a “very easy decision” to renew his contract.
Spanoulis joined Olympiacos in 2010 after four seasons with arch rival Panathinaikos and one season with the Houston Rockets in the NBA. His decision to switch over was controversial and divided fans at the time.
Since joining the team, the “Reds” have made a comeback, having won to back-to-back European championships (2012 & 2013) and three championships in Greece (2012, 2015, 2016).
