The Taxisnet began accepting tax returns on the 5th of April, however so far only about 500,000 taxpayers have filed their taxes so far.

According to a report in the Imerisia newspaper, the slow process has bee attributed the slow rate to accountants reacting to the changes being introduced by the controversial pension reform bill.

In greater details, about 270,000 (54%) of these taxpayers declared no income, about 100,000 will see a tax refund, while the other 130,000 will have to pay tax their 2015 income.

Alexiadis rules out extensions

The Alternate Minister of Finance Tryfon Alexiadis ruled out the possibility of any extensions being granted for taxes. The only exception, he noted, will be if the Taxisnet goes offline for a day, in which case the final submission date will be extended accordingly.
