A total of 28 strikers and unionists were detained early on Saturday morning by the police in Thessaloniki, following a complaint filed by their employers at the “Charma” factory.

Amongst those detained were the secretary of the Thessaloniki Labor Center and executive committee member of the All Workers Militant Front (PAME) Leonidas Stoltidis, the president of the food and drink dederation Manolis Karantousas and the president of the Evia food and drink trade union Yannis Tzavaras.

The detainees, who were later arrested and released, will face charges of illegal violence and disrupting industrial peace. Upon release the 28 filed a complaint against the factory employers for threat to life and preventing industrial action.
