The former Governor of the Bank of Greece Giorgos Provopoulos has reportedly joined Eurobank, where he will be involved with the banking group’s international activities.

Eurobank received the relevant approval from the Financial Stability Fund late on Thursday evening. The bank’s board of directors is expected to confirm the decision within the day, with the official statement expected shortly after.

Mr. Provopoulos was Governor of the Bank of Greece between the 20th of June 2008 until the 20th of June 2014, when he was succeeded by Yannis Stournaras. Between 1990 and 1993 he acted as Deputy Director at the Bank of Greece and was the President of the Council of Economic Advisors.
