“In three days we will have a government” argued a high-ranking SYRIZA officer, when asked to comment by the Athens-Macedonia News Agency on the first exit polls in the September 2015 elections.
The same officer further noted that these first estimations cannot fully reflect the composition of the new Parliament, but underlined that SYRIZA had an undeniable lead over New Democracy, which the officer added would likely be between 2 to 6 points.
Furthermore, the source commend that with the Independent Greeks also set to enter Parliament, the conditions exist for the formation of a new coalition government between the two parties.
SYRIZA’s Nikos Voutsis commented on Mega Channel that the previous coalition with the Independent Greeks was ‘efficient’ and a such may be repeated. With the two parties totaling about 152 seats in Parliament, he estimated that the coalition may seek out support from additional parties with similar policy statements.
