According to the seasonally-adjusted divs of European statistics authority Eurostat, employment in Greece increased by 1.2% in the second quarter of 2015 compared to first quartet of the year. Compared to the second quarter of the previous year, 2014, employment in Greece increased by 2.3%
Greece along with Portugal (1.3%) had the highest rates of improvement in employment during this period, followed by Ireland and Spain (both 0.9%) and Estonia (0.8%). The biggest drops in employment were documented in Finland (-0.3%), the UK (-0.2%), Bulgaria and Lithuania (both -0.1%).
Overall employment increased by 0.3% in the Eurozone and 0.2% in the European Union during the second quarter of 2015, in comparison to the first quarter of 2015 and by 0.8% and 0.9% compared to the second quarter of 2014.
Eurostat has also estimated that that there were 228.8 million men and women in employment in the EU during the second quarter of 2015, 151 million of whom were in the Eurozone.
