The heavy rainfall in the early hours of Tuesday morning, between 4am and 6am, in Thessaloniki has caused major problems, with the Fire Brigade receiving over 40 calls.

According to the Fire Brigade, the western section of the city, Serres and Kordelio, suffered the most from the early morning rainfall. In most cases the Fire Brigade was contacted to pump out water from houses and basements.

The rainfall has also caused problems to the roads in and around the city, with regional highway remaining closed in the morning. Drivers also reported many problems in the eastbound section of the ringroad, at Makrygianni-Oreokastro.
