The former Vice President of Parliament Alexis Mitropoulos has denied the tax evasion allegations against him, arguing that he was being undermined by government officials.
In a Monday morning press conference Mr. Mitropoulos stressed that he did not intend to abandon SYRIZA “like other dear comrades did” and claimed that party leader Alexis Tsipras had “begged him” to be included in the party ballots.
Regarding the tax evasion allegations against him, Mr. Mitropoulos told journalists that he was not involved in the case and claimed that everything was above board and in line with the relevant tax law.
Earlier in the day Mr. Mitropoulos appeared on SKAI, where he argued that was being undermined by government officials. Mr. Mitropoulos previous hinted that the allegations against him came from former Transport Minister Christos Spirtzis, but denied doing so and called him a “dear friend”.
