The police are hoping that the telephone records of murdered prison warden Makis Galimanis will shed some light on the mysterious case and reveal whether any threats were made against him. Galimanis appears to have been watched for three days prior to his murder, according to a witness. The witness told authorities that a car was parked outside of his mother’s home for days.

A prison officer revealed that the victim did not take any precautions, as there was no indication of any serious threats against him. An altercation with a prison inmate with ties to the Albanian mafia has been deemed as a “routine threat”. The prison source estimated that the contract for Galimanis’ murder must have been “very expensive”.

The president of the prison guard federation Giorgos Gizas complained about the very difficult working conditions many of their colleagues, revealing that there is only one guard per 100 inmates in Domokos.
