Amnesty International has published its annual global report on the state of human rights for 2014 and highlights the allegations of police brutality that are inadequately investigated and the unlawful “pushing back” of migrants attempting to cross to Greece, among others.

The NGO notes that “new hate crime legislation was adopted in September amid growing concern at the levels of racist violence” and stresses that racially-motivated hate crimes increased last year. Golden Dawn’s upcoming trial is also mentioned.

The report on Greece highlights the allegations of torture and ill-treatment of migrants held in police and border guard stations by law enforcement officials. Amnesty International stresses that the allegations are inadequately addressed.

Furthermore, the report notes the case of the migrant worker shootings in the strawberry fields of Manolada, as well as the enforced relocation of Roma families in Halandri.
