A number of victims in the recent Norman Atlantic tragedy at sea may have been attacked by sharks, based on leaks in the Italian press of autopsy reports.
According to the reports in the Italian media, the bodies of some of the victims recovered from the sea have many injuries, with one of the bodies having quite a few injuries.
Marine biologist Lucio Rositano is assisting in the investigations, in order to determine whether the victims were attacked by sharks at all and if so, whether they were alive at the time.
The ship’s two black boxes have also been recovered, with the analysis of the data contained within scheduled to being at the 20th of January. The Italian authorities hope that the data will provide further details regarding the events that resulted in the tragedy.
