The Ministry of Environment’s ambitious subsidy plan to replace heating oil with natural gas boilers has stalled, with about 10,000 applications pending.

According to a report in Ta Nea, the thousands of consumers have been waiting for the coalition government to implement the proclamation it made in September. About 15 million euros from the Public Investment Program are to be provided as subsidies to fund the central heating upgrades.

However, with the winter season nearly over and the process for connection to the natural gas network taking about two months, many consumers are disappointed.
