The police are searching for Kostas Sakkas, after he failed to show up at his local police department in Kaminia to report by midnight on Monday, as per the terms of his release from prison.

Sakkas was released from prison in July 2013 following a hunger strike in protest of his unlawful detainment for 31 months, greatly exceeding the legal provisions. The unlawful detainment sparked a wave of reaction from numerous social groups and organizations.

Sakkas, who self-identifies as an anarchist, was originally arrested for his suspected involvement in the Conspiracy of Fire Cells militant group, which he vehemently denies.
