The representatives of 68 road blocks met in Nikea over the weekend in order to discuss their strike actions and decided to carry a demonstration on Syntagma Square, outside Parliament, on Friday.

Meanwhile, the farmers decided to escalate their actions during the week, depending on the weather, with the access from the road blocks expected to be cut off for many hours during the day.

During the meeting the farmers also debated their demands, which include a tax-free threshold of 12,000 (down from an initially 30,000), tax-free diesel, the abolition of VAT for farming supplies and equipment, the abolition of the taxes on wine and tsipouro, as well as a provision for non-performing loans, to prevent home auctions. They have also called for the government to withdraw the pension system and tax reform bills and all tax measures affecting their sector.
