The Government Gazette has published a decision of the General Secretariat of Public Revenue which allows the Ministry of Finances to seize the bank accounts of those who owe huge sums to tax authorities.
Specifically, the Ministry will automatically begin to seize bank accounts for tax debts in excess of 70,000 euros. Debts which have been legally settled though are excluded from this provision.
According to the relevant legislation, the whole procedure must conclude within five days.
